Denton Golf Club Wedding DJ

My friend Martin (great drummer) recommended me to Pam and Mark to be their Wedding DJ. I had played Denton Golf Club many years earlier and I knew it is a fantastic space for a party.

Wedding after party
Pam and Mark got married a week earlier and the sole reason for this night was to have a good time - and we certainly did. Mark is a great guy, real warm character and lively. I really enjoyed playing tunes for him and Pam.

Meeting with Wedding DJ
We met up to talk through and plan and spent most of the time laughing. Really varied musical tasted and they had matched a lot of the songs mentioned to specific guests - so it was really fun to see the reaction when I played the tracks.

First dance
We opted to do the first dance quite late to give people time to enjoy the sunshine on the balcony and to chat. Pam and Mark got a great reception as they entered the room and danced to Joe Cocker.
This really got things going and there were shenanigans on the dancefloor for the rest of the night.

Hockey - Malmaison Manchester Part One Photo Booth

Hola hockey people.

Many thank you to you all for making me feel so welcome at your event last month. Here are the photographs from the Photo Booth.

I had a great time - you guys know how to throw a party.

Shout out to the staff at Malmaison too - they were very helpful and great with me.

By the way, I’m not actually a photographer, I’m a Wedding DJ - hopefully nobody noticed. Thank you to Noel Disbury for trusting me.

More to follow. I’ll do the awards next. And then the dancefloor stuff, but that’ll take me ages.

Colshaw Hall Wedding DJ

Colshaw Hall Wedding DJ'ing on NYE for such a fantstic couple was a real treat.

Rachel and Dan had Joe Keegan from BBC's The Voice and his band, Wedding DJ Adam Carr and, of course, Bag-pipes at midnight.

Note the sparkly bridesmaid dresses. At one point I was asked to play The Promise from Girls Aloud.

Question from DJ Chris Bell. How do you sort your music?

A DJ in Australia contacted me regarding organising his music for DJ’ing. Here’s my response:

Something I struggle with too is remembering to play all the great records at the right time. That’s part of the fun though. It’s nice when you get a response to a track you play that made someone think or reminded them of a something that hadn’t crossed there mind for a long time.

Why ‪#‎WeddingPhotoGate‬ doesn’t apply to me.

Wedding Photo Gate, was an online argument between a Wedding DJ, who was thought of by many to be stepping on the toes of the Wedding Photographer. The news story was covered in Forbes and elsewhere on the web. I don't delve too deeply into that row - but here are some of my thoughts on the topic.

In the two years I’ve been bringing my camera along to weddings what I do with it has evolved.

I want to ‘Capture the love’, to coin Ken Rochon’s phrase, but I am always thinking about crossing the line. And pondering where that line is.
